Carbon Accounting, Management, and Reduction Lab

CARML

A research lab focused on exploring innovation and career development in the field of greenhouse gas accounting and management

The field of GHG accounting is evolving rapidly, with the possibility of regulatory requirements for companies to disclose their GHG emissions coming as soon as this year for publicly traded companies within the United States. In order to help accelerate GHG emissions mitigation at local, national, and global scales, CARML works to foster both fundamental and applied research at the cutting edge of GHG accounting, reporting and management, including:

  • The development of new methods, data, and tools to support the quantification of GHG emissions throughout the entire value-chain of communities, organizations and corporations;
  • Improving understanding of the role that terrestrial ecosystems play in both  contributing to and potentially mitigating GHG emissions to the atmosphere; and
  • Building novel new education programs that foster student and public understanding of climate change and the importance of GHG mitigation and management.
